Main object settings

The Main tab contains vehicle details and settings for the connected equipment.

To add an object, complete the required fields. You can enter the remaining information immediately or add it later by editing the object card.

After the object is saved, the following information appears at the top of the tab:

Enter the vehicle registration number or a clear name for the object. It will appear in the object list, on the map, and in reports.

Select the folder where the object will appear in the object tree. For details on creating and configuring groups, see Object list.

Select the vehicle manufacturer.

Select the vehicle model. The available models depend on the selected make.

If necessary, select a specific version of the model, such as one with a particular body type, engine, or model year.

After you select the make and model, PILOT automatically adds a standard vehicle image.

Select a predefined set of object settings, such as a sensor or eco-driving template. Use a template that matches the installed equipment and the vehicle’s intended use.

Add any information that may be useful when working with the object, such as its department, purpose, operating conditions, or other notes.

Assign tags to classify objects and find them more quickly. For details on creating tags, see Object tags.

You can add a vehicle photo on the Main tab:

1. Click the camera icon next to the image

2. Select a file on your computer and upload it

3. Enable the toggle next to the photo if you want to display it instead of the standard vehicle icon

The photo will appear in the object list and on the map. If the toggle is disabled, PILOT will continue to use the standard icon for the selected vehicle type.

To remove an uploaded photo, click the trash icon next to the image.

 

This section contains the settings for the object’s primary telematics equipment.

Select the model of the GPS tracker or other terminal installed in the vehicle. The selected device type determines how incoming data is processed and which connection settings are used.

If the required model is not available, contact technical support.

Enter the unique identifier of the primary terminal. This may be a device ID, serial number, or IMEI. It is usually printed on the device, its packaging, or in the manufacturer’s documentation.

PILOT uses this identifier to determine which object the incoming data belongs to.

A lock icon appears next to the Device ID/IMEI field to prevent accidental changes. Click the lock to enable editing

You can link other installed equipment to the object, such as an additional tracker or video device:

1. Click the edit icon in the Additional devices field

2. In the window that opens, click Add

3. Enter the IMEI — the unique identifier of the additional device

4. Select the device type

5. Click Save

The following service settings are available for additional devices:

Enable these settings only if required by your connection configuration. If you are unsure, contact your administrator or technical support.

After you select the device type, PILOT automatically displays the server address and port to which the terminal must send data.

Click the copy icon next to the field to copy the value and use it when configuring the equipment. This field is completed automatically and cannot be edited manually.

Select the time zone in which the object operates. PILOT uses it to display the correct time in history, events, and reports.

Enter the time difference in hours if the device does not send timestamps in GMT. The default value is 0. Change this value only if the timestamps in the device messages differ from the actual time.
